Lookout towers were historically built as wildfire detection stations across multiple continents. This model reflects common designs found in the Rocky Mountains and the western United States. Typically, a lookout ranger would spend the fire season in the tower, monitoring the surrounding area for smoke and reporting fire locations.
While some lookout towers continue to serve their original purpose, others have been repurposed as unique, scenic cabins for rent, offering a distinctive getaway experience amidst stunning natural surroundings!
Lookout towers are a unique piece of history that blend architectural ingenuity with the rugged beauty of the natural landscape, preserving a timeless legacy of vigilance and exploration.
About the Build
The build is incredibly solid – connecting the struts to Technic frames in both the ground and the tower. The entire model can be picked up by one of the struts without worry.
The thick pine tree is perhaps the part I’m most proud of. While most pines using the new fern parts attach them to a single rod, these are double wide and offset just enough to make for a thicker tree full of foliage.
